This is amazing – not only is it a hugely skilled pursuit, it also opens a window into a time my generation would rarely see. I have more than a passing interest in history as well as photography – checks all the boxes for me. Enjoy at your leisure!
There’s also an amazing subreddit here – reddit.com/r/ColorizedHistory that’s full of these.
I live/love in Liverpool but for reasons that escape me I have yet to experience the annual Halloween Lantern Parade. This all changes tonight. Tonight I’m trotting out with my trusty Nikon D80 To try and take spectacular low-light photos like my father and father-in-law. The lantern festival itself is a great community event. Arts and craft centres across the city work all year round to create some of the most impressively crafted paper sculptures, usually lit up from the inside but rarely set on fire. If I can come away with a photo or two worth sharing I’ll be a happy man.
